CSC Innovation Day 2025: the paths to innovation and technological convergence

Shared Services Centers (SSCs) play a fundamental role in the operational efficiency of large organizations. They centralize administrative activities, enabling standardization, cost reduction, scalability, governance, and higher-quality services for business areas.
More than operational centers, SSCs have become strategic innovation hubs, responsible for driving the adoption of automation, data, and Artificial Intelligence across corporate processes.
CSC Innovation Day
Smarthis participated in CSC Innovation Day 2025, an event organized by the Brazilian Association of Shared Services (ABSC) and considered one of the leading forums for digital transformation in SSCs. It is an essential space for discussing trends, sharing experiences, and accelerating the evolution of this ecosystem in Brazil.
Designed for leaders and executives, the event brought together innovation cases, practical insights, and strategic discussions, reflecting the key trends shaping the future of SSCs in Brazil.
An ABSC partner since 2019, Smarthis reinforces its commitment to modernizing SSCs by supporting companies in their evolution toward smarter, more automated, and data-driven models.
Smarthis at CSC Innovation Day: technology, convergence, and orchestration
During the event, Smarthis participated in a plenary session alongside UiPath, while two of its cases were presented by Sabesp during the session “Leveraging the SSC through Hyperautomation.”
In the plenary session with UiPath, Smarthis CTO Rodrigo Ferreira joined Rodrigo Silveira from UiPath to lead the panel “Intelligent and Agile Orchestration for the Age of AI Agents,” highlighting technological convergence and the end of the logic that one technology must replace another.
According to Rodrigo Ferreira, the time between one technological shift and the next is becoming increasingly shorter. The value lies in convergence: making AI, RPA, and data work together rather than choosing just one.
The presentation reinforced that, amid the technology race, competitive advantage comes from generating real business impact by orchestrating complementary technologies to achieve tangible results.
Sabesp cases: tangible results with automation
The cases presented by Sabesp, both developed by Smarthis, demonstrated the real impact of automation on SSCs.
In the “invoice posting process,” annual savings reached 12,000 hours, while the “benefits payment” process saw its execution time reduced by approximately 99%, along with fewer errors in defining the delivery addresses for cards issued to new employees.
These results reinforce that value does not come only from fully automating the end-to-end journey, but also from digitizing individual process blocks, which delivers immediate value and contributes to sustainable digital transformation.
“Even knowing that RPA will eventually die out, we cannot become attached to the process” – Insight shared by Sabesp speakers Michel Cartaxo and Igor Lima during CSC Innovation Day.
The reflection sparked relevant discussions about digital maturity and the timing of automation, showing that progress requires understanding when and how to move forward.
Smarthis + UiPath
Smarthis attended the event alongside UiPath as its Diamond partner, demonstrating in practice how automation, data, and Artificial Intelligence are collectively shaping the new generation of SSCs.
The plenary session provided a visual and practical demonstration of how the Maestro platform enables end-to-end orchestration of automations — from RPA to AI Agents — illustrating the future of intelligent accounts payable.
One of the concepts discussed was “Fear of Missing AI,” an expression that describes the fear of falling behind in the Artificial Intelligence race. The discussion contrasted this feeling with the importance of recognizing that not every new technology needs to be adopted immediately. More important than following trends is assessing what truly delivers results based on data, context, and strategy.
Convergence and the future of SSCs
The SSCs making the greatest progress in their digital transformation journeys are those combining automation, data, and Artificial Intelligence under strong governance and a culture that is open to experimentation.
As Rodrigo Ferreira highlighted:
“Companies are moving toward ecosystems of controlled autonomy, where agents, people, and automations have to work together and be well orchestrated in order to achieve the objective of a process. [...] These technologies do not replace one another. Each has its own benefits and areas where it does not perform as well, and it is up to us to decide where to apply each one and how to orchestrate all of them.”
The future of SSCs is hybrid, orchestrated, and convergent, bringing people and technology together to increase efficiency, innovation, and strategic value across the organization.
